didn't miss anything

Took a week off from visiting facebook. I really have no idea what people are saying in their timelines aside from the people on either side of the gun thing. Control people aren't reasonable if they think all guns are bad. I once had a deer jump on the hood of my car while I was driving, so I feel that hunting is necessary in Ohio. I work with gun nuts. Gun nuts aren't exactly the types to use guns on people. People that use guns to kill for no reason are just plain nuts. How they got to be nuts has a lot to do with things dealing with their emotional development. Seems like all the mass shooters that come to mind came from broken homes. Weird.
Another weird thing is that I can't think of a communist country that didn't come about without a lot of mass killings of innocent people. My Canadian roommate thought America was violent from its birth, since her nation asked for independence and got it peacefully. I don't remember anything being taught about the slaughter of King George's family, so I disagree.
Anyways, the lone nutball looks like a weirdo. I thought it was a girl at first wit the hair and lack of a noticeable Adam's apple. Who names their son a name that ends with "ann," or am I missing something?

Monday, reflected

So Robin Williams kills himself and the internet ceases to move ahead?
Meh. Suicides should be forgotten and left alone. They chose their end, why bother them anymore?
My clock is fast. I awoke thinking it later than it was because it was set fast. Throwing breakers to see which was wired to dw was adventurous on Thursday. Regardless, dw wasn't a thing squared today given the family outing to Magic Castle.
Felt horridish early with back issues from work... I'm getting old. So much to do, but I'm not in the mood to do such and what not.

misc thoughts

Well, I did the three things I had hoped to accomplish before heading to work and some. Finished cleaning the Neon with vacuums and scrubbers(used two of each). Put together B's new bicycle. Mowed the back lawn. Loaded most of dishes in sink into dishwasher. Washed Neon* so that looks like came off a lot.

I didn't finish dishes because I had to get to work early to use my associate card. Technically I was at work when I washed my car, but I hadn't clocked in yet. Amazing what a premium car wash can do to a car's finish, it just buffed all the scuffs and minor scratches invisible. Mike's Carwash is great to cars. Not sure I'd pay the $17, but it's worth it when considering how lousy a handwashed car looks in comparison. Then again, other places do it for less, but I'm too cheap to compare the competition.

J seemed to think well of my accomplishments of solitude. She brought back a pie from her folks that was all mine since no one wanted apple. Sadly, I didn't expect it to be in box that said "baked in store" upon it. At least it wasn't made in China, I guess. Apple Pie is good, regardless of its preparation most of the time(Hostess "fruit pie," for example, is edible in a yummy animal fat sort of way).

AW, had a great day, all and all. Saw the Cordery family at Americana Festival, so they got to meet the rest of my beautiful family and K. They reiterated the cookout as being family friendly, but I doubt J and K would be comfortable there. I'm gonna bone up on small arms so I can follow conversations less ignorantly.

Nothing is as American as apple pie, supposedly, and I found myself wondering what a friend of mine posted upon her FB timeline. I'm not sure what it was, but I fear it was French toast. Last year, Boom posted pics of his fam, and one of his silly daughters wore shirt donning a Union Jack!  Have you seen Boom's mugshot? It's better than all of his selfies, I think, but I could be wrong and just plain mean.

J doesn't FB. She doesn't do a lot of things, but she is a good mother. I wonder how she'll be as an aunt. Not sure how I'll be as an uncle. I'll be a better uncle than any K has, is all I can shoot to be. The bar has been set so low.

I wonder how long I can go without blogging. Not going to try anything, just pondering... I only check FB for messages from former Hookers and I check Twitter for the fascinating trips LSD always seems to take. I could give up FB and Twitter, since everyone has my number or email if I am needed to be reached, I suppose.

Why anyone leaves the home fascinates me, so I'm lucky to be with J. Her reasons for venturing out are very simple logical reasons.

I wonder if there's a term for friendships that social media distort in significance. I mean I can be gone from the face of the Earth, then boom, there every day or so like time never passed or shifted or quaked. Transitioned?

Was tempted to say random thoughts as post heading, but that would suggest thoughtlessness as a motivator of much of the musings which were explicitly confined to real events significant to today (now yesterday).

Lorde helped me clean my car. Not sure about all the tennis references, though. Lorde only knows, I suppose.

bleach

Not sure, but I seemed to have gotten stuck in time at work. I got done earlier than usual, though I chilled a couple times to breathe unbleached air.
I feel like I went swimming.
Annoyed with social media communication. My fingers must be defective. Reminds me that summer is coming. AW, I use my phone too much for my liking so I will refrain from certain apps.
Soooo don't want to go east to visit folks, but I have a bad feeling. Called mom on way to work since no one called regarding dad aside from brother who was home from a funeral in Montreal. AW, dad has a clot in his leg so no idea when he'll transferred from hospital. He's been in there three weeks now.
Annoyed that I ask questions that never get answered. I must ask dumb questions, or unanswerable ones.
I need structure beyond herding children. I'm going to be bored when D becomes independent. Vasectomy makes sense given our resources and insurance deductibles ASU will be met, but I enjoy chaos of little ones. D rolled onto her bellow today. She likes Tom Jones. J was bothered I knew words to What's New Pussy Cat. I played it for D enough times to know basic lines are nose, eyes and lips.
I feel like a cicada. I am out of sight and mind long stretches and come back in an over the top fashion.
Hiatus BD. I'm overzealous with my lack of structure to pursue unproductive endeavors...bad dad.

Wednesday that isn't like normal

I worked Monday to get that pay difference and now I feel like it's Tuesday. Things to do and my body isn't in the mood. The whole phone search has lead me to think a certain Android may be best option for my CB needs, but having a conversation with someone who dislikes said phone because it's Android is typical of the endeavor to upgrade past the CB barriers.

I just tried to read Time online. It gave me a headache. Maybe it's not meant to be read on a laptop(LT)? Anyways, the article(IC) was derivative of everything I just read in TLAF, which I felt was derivative of all things I read of late(ATIROL)... anyways(AW) I didn't have the will to finish a couple paragraphs of said Time IC. I felt like I wasted my time on Time, so I questioned my trusting the source by which my interest was piqued.

Total FB fail.

I need to get myself organizized(MOZD). Phones and cars are the white noise of distraction(WND)... I so dislike shopping for upgrades, but contentment BE DAMNED(BD)!

Words bored me. I am going to make new ones or abbreviate old ones to fit my idiosyncrasies(MI) better. I'll use the label Dylan Speak(DYLS) to highlight this occurrence for future reference(FR).

stupid distractions

so of course I get home and rather than eat ASAP, I see what's going on in the world and lose an hour before I ate birthday cake for breakfast. Frosting goes so well with coffee... wish there was a way to make birthday cake delicious and healthy enough for daily consumption. We can supposedly put a man on the moon but eating cake for breakfast is frowned upon in most circles. Science be damned.

ears and fears

This is the time of year that I begin to sweat myself silly at the carwash. It's like a sauna, so I turn on exhaust fans to combat the humidity. The fans are loud, so I wear earplugs. I'm not fond of the variety we have available now and have switched between my old pairs and the newer ones. Well, today I've had a pressure feeling in my left ear that is mild but I senses are a bit annoyed by K's voice and feel slightly off balance. I'm starving at the moment but I have to fast if I want to get my bloodwork done in the morning.
Such a nice day. The girls let me "sleep" in until after 10, so the day was slow going but I felt productive when I needed to be on the go. Still odds and ends for tomorrow to do, but I have to be up early to take kids to school since B has a fieldtrip in the morning. Maybe I'll take her out and about before K comes home, seeing I have to pick her up around 1:30. There are a couple things to do in the window they are both away... but only one is most desirable if I can uphold my fast through the night.
I've had a lot of cake as a result of B's birthday bonaza. I fear my sugar will be out of sorts in the blood drawn this week regardless of my fasting.
I did stuff today, but I can't say I used my time completely well. I need to give up  Facebook. I lost a bit of my day without accomplishing much when I  checked fb this morning. I need to be more organized with my day. Blog is productive if I'm working on organizing my thoughts, right?

weekend preview

Feeling tired. I may not dmt this post since I didn't nap before work. We went out for Dixie Dairy Dreem rather than dinner at home, so things were skewed along with the fact I slept until noon after I got off phone at 5:40 DTM. Maybe I need to sleep six or less hours to merit a nap, but my mind wanted one as I drove to work. Meh, it's my weekend now.
I think I know what's for dinner and I know Mr. Selfridge is scheduled, but the rest of Monday depends on how the stars align. Tuesday only has Agents of SHIELD as a definite maybe. All depends on how the stars align... I would hope to get up and about before the kindergarten bus motors through but I have to be on the ball at 6 DMT to consider that. Well I have coffee made in the Aladdin so I may have a go if the alignment of balls of gas in distant places dictate as much. I just don't want to be sucked into place that makes feel me like a bad parent when time comes unstuck.

sometimes a conversation is better.

HAL jr has been of line a month. Where does time go? Waiting for D to finish feeding before attempting sleep. J was on couch, so I knew D was due a feeding.  Soon after I arrived home.
Was totally surprised to get a few text messages today from someone other than J, made me wonder if the world was okay. Hmmm... humors me when people think I'm bored or grumpy, for I never get asked either when I am but quite the opposite.
I wander about when I am bored and not confined to home for obvious reasons.
Anyways, I like texting more than Facebook. I clean walls for a living, why would I write on one?
I saw Kurt Vonnegut speak once. I remember it quite well, it was disappointing. Man was frail and such and talked nonsense to most people that weren't Vonnegut nuts. She who won't be named sat to my right. I remember going to get her from her apartment and the walk to the Hillel. I think she spoke to people she knew along the way more than she did during our evening together. Hmmm... why did I ask if she  wanted to go? I had 4 tickets that I got free by asking the powers that be for them. I gave 2 to my then best friend who didn't go because it was his 21st and though he liked KV, preferred getting messed up. He gave the tickets to Jason Decker and Ms. Mavis. I liked them, so the tickets found a good home, perhaps better than the other two did.
I think that was the last time we hung together, but I could be wrong. Sometimes the end is unexpected and forgettable, thus only memorable things get credit for being such. Maybe in 10 years we'll run into each other while we're out with our adult sons at that same age as us at the Hillel. It doesn't matter, she was there for me at a rough time and I can say that life is a vague memory now, thankfully.
D finished during the above muttering, and along with my being tired I've lost my theme focus. Oh, I know, texting is great but a call at home is better.

TMI

Could say a lot and still be vague and mysterious, just need a means to have inside jokes to avoid traditional TMI.  Been going through old letters which are replies to something I sent. So confused on a number of levels, and its not intentional.

Gonna take a hiatus from FB. I need a smart phone to make such a more reasonable, time management wise. Thankfully, I can still post via Twitter... and crossover.

April was a weird month. I went 12 weeks without listening to the radio at 12:05, then April came and J was gone to let me listen to what I did before her leave of absence. Funny thing is that I first started listening to radio as J always talked about things she heard while pumping when she headed back after ML when B was born, but got annoyed after I became a 3 hours a day 5 days a week junky.

I've cut back to maybe 10% of what I used to do.  Maybe I can cut back on internet that much?

J said that VU sounded like emo when I played it the other week before she and kids headed out for ice cream.  VU is the bedrock of so much of the music I like... but I imagine a number of people feel the same way. I don't expect J ever to listen to VU out of the blue, but I would be less shocked if she started to listening WHIO while she had lunch, though I don't foresee the latter to occur anytime soon, again. I might be suspisious if she did, for I know she doesn't wanna talk to me about it.

Listening to Clash at the moment. Feeling very resolved. Just wish my mobile wasn't a minute contract, but I can't expect everyone to know my cheapness prefers calls to the home phone, solely but said purpose and its speakerphone allows for more freedom with hands... particularly with screaming babies needing bottles and changing.

chess and such

when we were buying toys galore at meijer a couple weeks ago, i got a cheap chessboard to teach k how to play chess. didn't think of b wanting learn, not that k wanted to learn to play, but she wanted to learn. finally got around to showing k the pieces tuesday night and he was anxious to do other things.
before i put everything away, b got upset that i wasn't showing her how to play. let's say j wasn't happy that bedtime was disrupted by b's wanting to play. i showed her the set up, the way pieces move and such... so time was consumed quickly.
anyways, yesterday b wanted to play when we were up. i got the board out and had her set the board. she had it mostly correct, just bishops and knights reversed.
we played for a very long time a single game. i basically was playing myself for i helped her think through moves after she started getting upset by my taking pawns. i want her to have fun and to learn, so i'm not going to just let her win and i'm not going to try to beat her in minimal moves. i haven't played in years, so thinking made me have a headache. she wasn't bad.
later in the evening, she wanted to play again. her game wasn't thought out and she was just moving pawns two spaces down the line. again, i took pawns, but she left herself unguarded and lost rook and knight before she ended the game abruptly by knocking everything over.
my headache returned, so i took a nap before heading into work.
i need new hobbies. facebook bores me, and i have no other interaction with people aside from my reconnection. amazing how two people can be so different and alike, explains the seemingly love/hate relationship dynamic.
sorry for the lack of caps, shifting angers my carpal tunnel.

End of XP support

Well, the day has come that I will cease to use a certain machine for blogging. Not sure what will replace it, but a tablet will probably be what it will be given my annoyance with MICROSOFT. Seeing that my internet has been slow and Cincinnati Bell has been no help, I am looking into new connectivity options as well.

Just as I'm in a good place with my contact with the outside world, I'm being forced to be reclusive at my peak times of social productivity. Meh. Guess it must be a sign that I should be prioritizing other matters, like my beautiful 3 month old daughter.

Maybe I need to start being more physically active and eating better until I have the means to fully embrace mindless elements of my various interests?

Inside Deep Throat

Netflix has some NR stuff. Just saw the documentary Inside Deep Throat. Odd to think a hardcore porn film could be accepted by the mainstream as mentionable, yet prosecuted at the same time. Clips of Bob Hope and others on late night being almost nonchalant... seems out of place given the prude behavior of censorship today regarding "wardrobe malfunctions."
The documentary made an interesting comment about our society that the concept behind the obscenity charges isn't even considered a sex act by many of today's teens and young adults.

In other realms, Facebook feels its unacceptable to post images of a full breast yet clips of decapitation are okay. I am not sure where I stand on obscenity, but I find the latter to be more obscene than anything depicted in the above mentioned documentary.

Fwd.us

You can't please all the people all the time... Fwd.us has shown that "bipartisanship" is a dirty word to environmentalists and liberal groups.

Bullying your allies is a great sign of being willing to end gridlock with your "foes."

There's simply too many special interest groups that show that co-existing is not in their game plans.

Next blog

When is someone a friend? I ask this because I find myself about to say "a friend of mine," but I really don't have traditional friends in that I don't go out and meet with people or have people over the house, ever.

Anyways, I know someone from my days working at a certain place, and I still keep in touch through Email, LinkedIn and Facebook. She has a blog here, and I recall her saying on FB or Twitter that one of her guilty pleasures was hitting the "next blog" button.

I had never done such. I only worried about myself, so I was bit surprised by the number of "dead" blogs that are "next" to mine when doing the feature. Sometimes I come across one that was updated within the month but the author has written in a language I am forced to rely upon a translation site.

Regardless, I find myself reflecting upon my days of using Diaryland. I followed people and people followed me. No pictures or names were ever shared, and I find myself missing that anonymity.

Stock Market

Not sure what the deal is, but the Dow Jones is up big this first day of October. There's nothing good going on in the world that makes me feel as though it's based on real data.

Of course the DJIA was at 150+ at the time when it close about half that.

I just know how my IRA is doing, and it's up up up. I freed some cash from some mutual funds last week in anticipation of a roller coaster  between now and January. The looming fiscal cliff has all the markings of bad news.  My gut tells me that a repeat of '09 could happen. My IRA lost half its value in the midst of that, so I hedge my bets whenever things like bond rating downgrades occur.

Just saw that I am not alone in my fears. According to Maria Bartiromo, "judgment day is coming."

I still think Facebook stock is overvalued. News says that Zuckerberg is in Russia to boost its presence.
I really don't get the value of it. Maybe it's because I'm in Ohio, but ALL OF THE ADS ARE POLITICALLY ORIENTED which means that the company will be hurting for money come November 7th.

Wow, did I just type November 7th? It's my Grandparents' anniversary, which means they would have been married 70 years! I feel old since I remember their 49th like it was yesterday. Magic Johnson announced his retirement from the NBA 11/7/91. I used to like the NBA then and felt mixed emotions given that I hated the Lakers.

I'm actually wearing one of my Grandpa J's flannels. It has gotten a bit worn around the collar and the elbows in the 18 years since he died, but flannels are meant to be worn as layering and I just wear it around the house.

I need new flannels. The last one I got was one my aunt gave me that my cousin no longer wore around the time in joined the Marines in 2000. The thing about flannels is that I don't believe in throwing them out until they are completely dead. Same way I feel about white t-shirts. J thinks I'm nuts for having a drawer of white shirts with stains and holes galore, but I wear them as undershirts. Layers that no one will see can be stained and holey as far as I'm concerned. Then again, I wear such shirts all the time when I mow the lawn or do things around the house that may involve bleach or grease. Clothing must literally fall to threads before I consider tossing it, which is why I have had a few pairs of crotchless jeans.

Cybertrash

Remember Myspace? Did you leave it formally, or did you just forget to logon indefinitely?
I read the headline about Lady Gaga having 71% of her Twitter followers being "fake accounts." When you are talking about millions of unattended accounts, it makes you wonder about cybertrash. It's in Twitter's best interest to have as many unique users as possible for valuation of the company and its marketing reach, but a deluge of redundant content makes searching the internet feel like the pre-Google days where everything  seems to be garbage when you use Google to look up a roommate you have lost track of 10 years ago.

I tell people if I can't find you on twitter or Facebook, then you may as well be dead. Google seems to index those two locales more than anything else.

Trivial thoughts. When I die, I will be abandoning at least 10 email accounts. Spam finds me, so I suppose that I  must exist in some plane of reality, regardless if I'm alive or not.

Is it possible to destroy the internet? What if an EMP  somehow wipes out all digital knowledge, would that throw the world back into the dark ages?

Sad to think that "57 channels and nothing on" meant something when 57 channels was a lot of channels. Imagine if there was no television from all the satellites becoming somehow fried. Scary, huh?

Drawback about social media

There are a lot of journalists and social commentators that thrived in newsprint or radio but not on television because they were fugly.
Sure there were unattractive carny-like people on television like Katie Couric and Jamie Farr, but you have to offset the price of your stars with the cost of lower tier quality support to lower overhead.
Anyways, Twitter has allowed the fugly free reign of the internet. Where as before, you didn't have to think about what someone looked like when you read their reporting, now you have to see their avatar/profile pic since print media is dead and everything is easier to access online.
There needs to be program that blocks fugly images from being viewed upon a Twitter feed (not-so-fugly people that are safe to casually follow often retweet fuglies' tweets).
Okay, what is fugly? Well, it can be anything asymmetrical enough to merit a bag over it.
Growing up I thought that's what a "bag lady" was, someone too fugly to be seen in public that they had to have a bag over their head. I believed that some cultures had them wear burqas.
Funny thing is that a bag lady is thought to be homeless while a bag man is thought to be a criminal, yet it's considered profiling if you give casual attention to those wearing a burqa.
