I wanted to write a book once titled: The Secret to Knowing Everything. Curious, I typed it into a library catalog and Freakonomics popped up. I had never heard of it. I was a lousy librarian in that I didn't care for books, but rather answering queries. I never worked in public library, so I was pop culturally sheltered.
AW I eventually won a copy of Freakonomics as a door prize at a librarian conference held on October 30, 2009 in Wilmington. My old boss who laid me off was in charge of door prizes, but I left before my name was drawn. Naturally, a librarian from Stow Campus got it for me and mailed it to me. My campus is a few miles from my old job and I was on good terms with my old boss, so I found it very bizarre.
(I remember the date because was a Friday and a dude that presented dressed as a historically accurate pirate for Halloween)
Very weird how I came across the book, for I hadn't read it though I wanted to read it upon my first seeing pop up in random book about knowing everything search.
I liked the book. I don't agree with much of it but it was interesting. Jon Lott Jr. has a book that was a retort called Freedomnomics that I saw at Half Price Books and eventually read. I enjoyed it. I like seeing different sides of stuff. No one seems to share my opinions completely, so I just laugh at the bogus reasoning some conjure to meet their memes of progress is good because we are smarter than you so don't question authority.
So I'm reading Super Crunchers because it w in the area that game theory would reside if J had such books at her work. The book is old considering it has Cingular and Circuit City cited as companies utilizing super data mining to yield massive profits off ignorant customers being bilked by smoothly individualized marketing via the Internet. Manipulating people to think stuff as though they have free will to do
so is just plain evil. Totally explains how people act irrational with confidence.
I'm in a plateau phase of my life. I've a baby who needs me until she's ready for school, so I plan to be mentally challenged by having a balanced information diet to prepare for my reemergence from semi retirement. The blog will serve as a pondering tool, if I blog at all.

Wednesday that isn't like normal
I worked Monday to get that pay difference and now I feel like it's Tuesday. Things to do and my body isn't in the mood. The whole phone search has lead me to think a certain Android may be best option for my CB needs, but having a conversation with someone who dislikes said phone because it's Android is typical of the endeavor to upgrade past the CB barriers.
I just tried to read Time online. It gave me a headache. Maybe it's not meant to be read on a laptop(LT)? Anyways, the article(IC) was derivative of everything I just read in TLAF, which I felt was derivative of all things I read of late(ATIROL)... anyways(AW) I didn't have the will to finish a couple paragraphs of said Time IC. I felt like I wasted my time on Time, so I questioned my trusting the source by which my interest was piqued.
Total FB fail.
I need to get myself organizized(MOZD). Phones and cars are the white noise of distraction(WND)... I so dislike shopping for upgrades, but contentment BE DAMNED(BD)!
Words bored me. I am going to make new ones or abbreviate old ones to fit my idiosyncrasies(MI) better. I'll use the label Dylan Speak(DYLS) to highlight this occurrence for future reference(FR).

finished TLAF
Funny how a book fits timely with one's mindframe, for I recently "quit" and feel great. Maybe I need to revisit Clay's work? I think he said stuff I wasn't ready to pursue.

day 2 of birthday weekend
Saturday:
I awoke thinking I was alone, but only the girls were gone. J & B needed their hair cut, so were gone until noon-ish. I was shocked I was up and feeling good.
K was quietly on his laptop. I started doing dishes. J had run the dishwasher to apease D last night, so I had stuff to keep busy as my pills settled. I ate lunch for breakfast. J made me put the Ryobi away, so I put it together. It's nice. Went to Sam's to get food for the extended family party we were having today.
J's parents and sister arrivedon time and we had hotdogs etc before opening presents and consuming the cake.
I got two more rsvps for tomorrow's party, so I think we have our 8 guest quota met. Was worried no one would show, but silly teacher held on to the invitations for a week before passing out to B's class!
I'm about 3/4 through TLAF, I am humored. I need to look into game theory. Economics aren't vague and mysterious to me like philosophy. I'm still not sure I get the significance of modernism or post-modernism, but mehism, I get completely.

thinking small(TLAF)
Just finished chapter 6 tonight, and I had a thought: why not explore all the big problems in the world and make them smaller?
There's so many weird qualms we as a society have about certain acts or behaviors, why not breakdown the reasons for anxieties over "hot button" issues and get to a consensus where disagreements can be made meh?

Power of Spite
So I just completed Chapter 3 of Think Like a Freak(TLAF), and I feel like I did when I saw Mr. Vonnegut on the evening of November 6, 1998. Meh.
Nothing really new to enlighten my thinking, thus far.
