less annoyed

Had to buy a screwdriver set to take apart my Nook HD+ to follow directions linked in previous post. When I say directions, I mean quick fix for he described my problem exactly and his solution worked exactly for me too. No new Nook. No new battery. Just disconnect current battery and reconnect, he said and amazingly all I spent was the $ on screwdriver set which I'm tempted to return.
I feel mildly bad for blaming my boy's gaming, but he'll forgive me for getting the Nook up and running as good as ever... knock on wood.
In other news, I finished my third outlet that wasn't grounded. I need more copper wire to complete the next two.
My stupid list is getting done. Next will be taxes. Should be getting a bit back from Fed, no idea about State, but local estimate was accurate to within $7.
Tired and hungry... I have earned a poptart before bed.

that stupid feeling of annoyance

I'm not sure how productive I've been, but I am slowly getting stuff done off my stupid list. I have a lot of distractions. Bulk of list is my promise of completing our main bathroom, but there are odd things I have never finished.

meh would be a good thing

J and D stayed home. They were in the way of DJ's routine, but who are we to complain if we aren't sick while they are?
Made for an annoying day, but the magicJack saga has hit the point of my being belligerent. Wasted another couple hours on chat with magicJack and calling Cincy Bell. Talk about perfect storm of ineptitude. MagicJack toook too long to port number so it wasn't available from Cincinnati Bell due to deactivation. The latter doesn't prorate so I submitted port 10 days before CB invoice period ended. MJ failed to port after I submitted it four times. Spoke with chatbot each time for an hour only to be told to talk to CB for another hour... failure to communicate is the MO of both communications companies I can firmly attest. I just wanna Yelp! A blue streak to convey my displeasure.

green grass and such

Whine. First world problems. Yesterday, I was saying as much about being annoyed with myself for caring about a working dishwasher and a weed free lush lawn, but the effected was nullified when the Nook refreshed. Married life makes convenience and appearance matter.
Tired. Getting up before 8am and staying up is beating me down. So much needs done, but D needs me and I'm just blah for much else. I hear her now, gotta go.

bleach

Not sure, but I seemed to have gotten stuck in time at work. I got done earlier than usual, though I chilled a couple times to breathe unbleached air.
I feel like I went swimming.
Annoyed with social media communication. My fingers must be defective. Reminds me that summer is coming. AW, I use my phone too much for my liking so I will refrain from certain apps.
Soooo don't want to go east to visit folks, but I have a bad feeling. Called mom on way to work since no one called regarding dad aside from brother who was home from a funeral in Montreal. AW, dad has a clot in his leg so no idea when he'll transferred from hospital. He's been in there three weeks now.
Annoyed that I ask questions that never get answered. I must ask dumb questions, or unanswerable ones.
I need structure beyond herding children. I'm going to be bored when D becomes independent. Vasectomy makes sense given our resources and insurance deductibles ASU will be met, but I enjoy chaos of little ones. D rolled onto her bellow today. She likes Tom Jones. J was bothered I knew words to What's New Pussy Cat. I played it for D enough times to know basic lines are nose, eyes and lips.
I feel like a cicada. I am out of sight and mind long stretches and come back in an over the top fashion.
Hiatus BD. I'm overzealous with my lack of structure to pursue unproductive endeavors...bad dad.

feeling good into the weeeeeeeeee hours and beyond.

I'm a liar. I can't stay away when I'm feeling good. It's so easy to bitch, moan ASU, but getting to tap into the fun part of my fragmented chemically stability is the mirror image. Heaven and hell fusion like the bliss of being too drunk to stand and feeling gravity pull your eyes to slumber as your heart and lungs radiate heat and all else is numb and spinning. Running a 20k through the streets/hills of Wheeling doesn't compare, but it has elements of ecstasy once you complete the damn thing. I had a nap extended beyond norm, so this isn't deprivation of sleep, yet. Hours accum seem better quality than hours straight....
AW we shall see how Tuesday fares, soon enough, eh?

day one of week two; summer

Having kids home isn't going as I'd hope, thus far(TFR).
My fault(MFU). I'm not good at multitasking(MUT) and I've an addiction to screentime(ATS), so I'm a useless zombie(UZB) now that we got smartphones(SMRT). Totally knew it would happen(TKIWH). Need to organize and such(ASU), pronto.
AW, I am gonna try to get stuff done(GSD). I'm responsible for the downstairs, the garage, and the barn. So much stuff to do(SMSTD), I can ignore no more (INM), blah.

A digital hiatus(DHU) is in order(IIO), I'm going paper(IGP) until I GSD.

Might as well say more stuff given DHU IIO ASU.
My living quarters are a mess. I have clothes in piles, drawers ASU in at least two rooms. I need to rid myself of stuff. I'm such a hoarder, due to my procrastination. Fancy word for lazy, I guess. I need to "defrag" everything. The basement is the dumping ground for my stuff I use and neglect accordingly. I piled up clothes. I emptied my drawer of work clothes. I need to put stuff elsewhere, for it is mostly winter layering. Of course, I start my organizing when all is asleep and I should be out getting milk. AW, I will awake to a mess from my moving stuff around into piles to go elsewhere.
I never GSD, but I am going to make a sincere effort to be less useless. Sure I watch the kids and do things like towels, dishes, and a few dinners a week, but all else is infrequent at best.   IGP to give a visual checklist. I will be accountable.

sad about Shaggy

Ever watch Scooby Doo and think, "Casey Kasem?" Doesn't matter anymore. Never understood the point of Casey Kazem. He'd be on the radio during my stocking days and Fleetwood Mac was always on the stupid countdown.
Ever been in a stalking daze? Caught ya reading this blog, this blog about nothing unless I'm something worthwhile to ponder as my musings meander from cusps of memories shared and the void of the Isle of Dyland. I miss thinking without being interrupted by my own laspe of concentration. Flow. I could talk for hours about nothing in particular. Reading through an old letter from M, I never destroyed, she mentioned my monologues. I miss M, but I guess I did most of the talking and she was to polite to boot me about until she got religion and felt I was doomed for hell.
AW, I wonder what I spoke regarding. She once seemed annoyed and suggested I was trying to be odd. Offputting. I'm too lazy to try to be anything beyond myself. Getting up in the morning is hard enough, and I'm not talking morning wood, I'm talking being down and crushed by planes of fatigue snuffing the will to move.
Sorry about talking M talk, but I borrowed "dyland" from her. See her bf from hs was Robert Zimmerman.
Not sure about going east on Friday. I am going but I fear 6/20. Its like my Friday the thirteen, I think.
Tired. I have an appt in the morning. Meh.
F@#$ing Nook is spazzing. Stalk me later, I guess.

lousy

I have used lousy a lot of late. It is a word that sounds bad but only if the person using it has low standards.  I expect myself to be able to things better than average because I like to be cautious and such. If I don't know how to do something, I check youtube or such.
Got a new blade for my ten year old mower. I bought a spark plug to start the season, least year the rear wheels broke. Small engines seem to last a while. Used my new Ryobi hedge trimmer. J did mulching with the rubber stuff from Home Depot.
Our yard looks decent. Clover is invading, but I would rather not call in help unless diy is not feasible.
J asked if she was going to find an alias of mine with a dating site profile. I almost said something snarky, but thought better.
My scalp got more sun than I anticipated, as it was a productive day. Tired.

sad

Being a jerk 24/7 is hard when one loves people. Feeling apathy is the only benefit of being a jerk. Emotions aren't my friend. Strange, I started reading Slaughterhouse Five, again, yesterday. First time I had come across the Serenity Prayer. For the longest time I didn't know AA started/concluded meetings with it, but KV's uncle founded the Indy Chapter, so it goes.

$115 question

So I work at a place that has a customer centric bonus system, which since am not around customers disqualifies me from bonuses. I get paid a flat hourly rate and time and a half on observed holidays.
Anyways a guy isn't around anymore so rather than give him his bonus, I got it. Wasn't expected an Amazon gift card, and I am not going to turn down $.
Think we'll use it towards new phones. I'm not sure I really want a smart phone given I don't want to be like those people at parks absorbed into their phones, but peer pressure dictates a change. I'm not going to spend much more on a plan until I feel comfortable with my finances, so I'm really just putting my toe into the smartphone realm.

algorithms and such

Seems the stats jump will come to an end for the numbers seem to be tapering off, but 100k visits in May rocks, regardless. To think the 68+k from last August was my previous "fluke" high makes me wonder if I will have a total sum of a million if the algorithm tweak occurs in my favor again.
Just need to find a legal means to cash in on the blog. Traffic is nice but clicks on ads and such would be nicer. Accidental traffic doesn't exactly reap the rewards one would hope.

fun in the shade

Took today off to work time and a half Memorial Day rate. Carillon Park was today's destination. Couldn't stay for fireworks, but had kettle corn and funnel cake amongst vendor purchases. We had passes from Bingo Night that expired soon, so spending $40 on festival fare was a moot point when considering the crowd was willing to pay $8 each to get in for music and such.
Got pool passes, but 79 isn't quite pool weather. Should be a fun summer, since we have a set schedule with which I can function well. I am to blame for 90% of the lack of activity done, so getting naps, I should get to 45-55 range.
Sunny day, so my bald head got slogged in 50 spf. I tan and could pass for a Mexican, or at least I did 20 years ago, but the first time in the sun is no fun without block, even for me.

thoughts and such

There was a time I'd watch Taxi Driver daily. I had it on VHS and watch when I was between stuff and meh-ish. When I felt like doing stuff I would stop and pick up the next day. I have it on DVD and I don't know when I watched last, and I can't say for sure I watched the DVD I own. I got a hoard mentality about things like shoes and jeans. I have learned to let go of old socks. Anyways, violence on screen doesn't make me feel the need to reenact, so I have a hard time getting the notion violent films are to blame for mass shootings. If everyone who ever felt rejected went on a killing spree, then who'd be left to bury everyone? It's easy to blame, but yet difficult to understand... biases blur the underlying elements. Supposedly mental illness is a sane response to an insane society, but I've not read that for myself.

week in review

No complaints. Had 3 decent days and 2 salvaged days. I hope to get more even but that would require less internet more sleep at set times and such. Almost done with my book.

feeling motivated

Irony is what humors me most. One day I'm told I lack empathy another I'm told I'm consumed by hatred. I'm trying to be more empathetic these days, and I have been avoiding hatred a while. If I hate anything I would say it's my lack of focus. Living vicariously via social media isn't my bag, but I find myself wanting to be able to do things like others do, but I know that I AM NOT PERSONALLY THERE YET for lots of things. I would like to go to church, but I have three hindrances. I'm not keen on strangers. I don't like being away from my wife and kids. I'm technically poor and feel I'd need to tithe, and I don't want to appear poor or cheap because I don't have funds to spare. Sure poor people go to church all the time, I just have a pride issue.

Anyways, the whole spat of QOTD of late started when I was thinking about glaciers. We are in an Ice Age according to the wikiapedia, though climate change of warming variety has been in the news, anyways KV started his most read work with a conversation basically saying glaciers are forever. Then I was looking at other quotes and thought of the others I admire most. WSB lived a long time as did KV and knew the latter's neighbor before he was famous. WSB is in the book the dude is most famous for writing in a scroll format. Anyways, I saw the gun quote and laffed because he killed his wife while playing William Tell. I think it's in the movie, I know it's the book.

I'm not a fan of the Beatles, but the fact they got their name from WSB's circle of friends and WSB was a junky gun nut along with the phony killing MDC made the Lennon QOTD über ironic.

Hmmm... it seems that blogger needs the ability to footnote so I can better explain my thought process for less confusion, or I should go on permanent hiatus. Perhaps the latter since I can still see and my loving daughters aren't old enough to take dictation. Then again, blogger allows for comments which could be utilized as footnotes if a dialog occurs regarding  my allusions.

DYK that roughly 1.2 million people die worldwide each year from car accidents and the vast majority of accidents are caused by human error? Anyone can be a killer behind the wheel of a car. Maybe I need to talk about cars next?

thoughts on gun control, in quotes, pt 1

After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it. I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in a society where the only people allowed guns are the police and the military.
William S. Burroughs (ignore September 6, 1951)

thoughts about climate change, in quotes, pt 1

"Why don’t you write an anti-glacier book instead?’ What he meant, of course, was that there would always be wars, that they were as easy to stop as glaciers. I believe that too.” -Kurt Vonnegut (brother of Honorary President, International Commission of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics Bernard Vonnegut)

thankful

There are times as a parent when a sense of dread takes hold to the point that panic is not an option. Being  calm is hard in such times. I had a moment today that I would consider a miracle, for bad a thing happened without physical harm occurring. I am ultimately to blame, and I'm lucky to be able to forgive myself for my grievous mistake. I'm blessed with a loving family, and I will try not to take anything for granted.

ears and fears

This is the time of year that I begin to sweat myself silly at the carwash. It's like a sauna, so I turn on exhaust fans to combat the humidity. The fans are loud, so I wear earplugs. I'm not fond of the variety we have available now and have switched between my old pairs and the newer ones. Well, today I've had a pressure feeling in my left ear that is mild but I senses are a bit annoyed by K's voice and feel slightly off balance. I'm starving at the moment but I have to fast if I want to get my bloodwork done in the morning.
Such a nice day. The girls let me "sleep" in until after 10, so the day was slow going but I felt productive when I needed to be on the go. Still odds and ends for tomorrow to do, but I have to be up early to take kids to school since B has a fieldtrip in the morning. Maybe I'll take her out and about before K comes home, seeing I have to pick her up around 1:30. There are a couple things to do in the window they are both away... but only one is most desirable if I can uphold my fast through the night.
I've had a lot of cake as a result of B's birthday bonaza. I fear my sugar will be out of sorts in the blood drawn this week regardless of my fasting.
I did stuff today, but I can't say I used my time completely well. I need to give up  Facebook. I lost a bit of my day without accomplishing much when I  checked fb this morning. I need to be more organized with my day. Blog is productive if I'm working on organizing my thoughts, right?
