I like September. Something about weather being around 78 degrees with a slight breeze is so refreshing compared to the heat of summer. I like summer but I don't like wearing shorts. I'm not into swimming. I just assume every day have its high be in the 70s and low in the 50s. Only downer about fall is that the days get shorter and time changes.
I think I'm growing out of watching football regularly. I just have a hard time getting excited when key players are always hurt thus making subs play. Stupid penalties occur. Almost seems like there's savages playing the game. Saw a guy get knocked out yesterday, but the hit didn't look bad or let alone intentional. I'm biased so I see what I see with blinders. Having a favorite team is meaningless. Football could be banned and life would go on. Football is fun to watch when plays work or play makers do their thing. When chaos takes place, it's just a mess.
Dudes are fast and muscular hitting one another. It's almost as though they need to have weight limits.
Never thought the sport was too violent until yesterday. I think seeing Matt Schaub's ear may have been the clincher.

Heat wave
It's been in the 90s the last week, so I am thankful for the A/C being up and running. I am thankful for a number of things, but they don't mean anything to anyone but myself.
Having a bi-level home, I'm told that it will never truly be wonderful, but it's fine to me. I grew up without A/C. I've lived in Ohio all of my life in Ohio aside from trips to Florida, DC, and Mexico, so the temperatures we have here are about the same as what I had where I originate.
My parents still live in the same house. They still don't have A/C but in the downstairs kitchen window. There are essentially four rooms(two upstairs bedrooms with a living room, kitchen and a mudroom that has been insulated downstairs).
Aside from not having A/C, I shared a room with my brother. The light switch was a chain that dangled from the ceiling in the middle of a 15 by 15 ft room. It was a long chain that my brother used to take down and put through his nose and pull out of his mouth like a carnival sideshow.
We used box fans and screens in the three windows to circular air in the room.
I grew up with insomnia so I don't think the heat really bothered me as much as my brain not wanting to shutdown at night along with the Drive-thru speakers at Hardee's.
We also never had a car with A/C either. It was just as well to have the windows down since my folks both smoked a couple packs of cigarettes a day, regardless of where they were.
Even the hottest place I ever stayed, Mexico, didn't have A/C.
Electricity was too expensive, I guess, so my host family didn't have it. It was a dry heat, but I still would wake up in a sweat drenched outline of myself when I didn't sleep in a hammock.
I got sick when I went to Cancun where all the plazas were 68 degrees and the outdoors were humid and in the 90s. I gotten eaten alive by mosquitoes even wearing Off, so I took to wearing jeans to cover my calves and ankles rather than under protective shorts the rest of the trip.
To this day, I rarely wear shorts unless I'm doing something sporty.
One could argue that I am thankful for A/C because of climate change, but I would disagree. I could go without it if I didn't live with J. J needs A/C and life is easier for me if the A/C is on and working. Getting the A/C was made easier when my father offered to help. Not having a steady income makes me question any purchase that I don't personally feel necessary. If I want to stay married, I need to have A/C.
I am thankful for my parents' help. I might have unpleasant memories from my childhood, but I can block them out seeing that I use such experience as a means to appreciate the simple joys I do encounter in adulthood.
I can say A/C makes me happy because it makes J happy. J is the soul of our family with K and B both gravitating to her. With that said, J keeps me going regardless of my personal failings.

Returning phone calls
When we got back from swimming and ice cream, I saw the voice mail light flashing. I checked the missed call, and it was my brother. I am rarely in the mood to talk to him, and I was too tired at that point regardless of my opinion of him.
When I was getting ready for bed I got my phone from J's purse, since I gave it to her when we went swimming and it was locked in a locker while we were at the pool. My brother had called my cell as well, so I sent him a text saying I will call when I have time. He lives three time zones away, so he may have been up, but I still wasn't in the mood to talk.
Today being the next day, K & B went to swim class with J this morning. I stayed home to grout. I did as much as I could before they came home at which time we went to Steak'N Shake. Kids eat free on Saturday, and I was hankering for the Chili Frito Double Steak Burger.
When we got there, the manager promised not to bus our table while we visited the Claw Machine. Claw Machine looked too tempting to give, but it didn't though we spent more than I would have liked.
Food took a while to get to us. Not sure what held up the order, but it was worth the wait. I love the Frito Burger, and hope that it returns to the menu rather than hoping for them to have Fritos leftover. They ring it up as the Jalapeno Crunch, which suggests that I like the Jalapeno Crunch, BUT I DON'T.
Anyways, we went to Wal-mart to get some items that TARGET STOPPED CARRYING. B wanted carried, and I was fine doing so until I felt my feet hurt.
Seems that I grout on my knees and toes, so I stretched my feet to a painful afterthought, just as my hands hurt from scraping.
Got back from Wal-mart and eventually got back to grouting. Upon finishing the floor, I cleaned up my mess and called my brother back. I don't recall the last time I called him. I dislike his voice, so I generally text him if communicating with him cannot be avoided.
Wasn't too bad of a call. Felt a little bad that I didn't know he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle a few weeks ago. I hadn't talked to him since he was in Ohio in April. He didn't call B on her birthday a couple weeks before his accident, which annoyed me.I don't talk to my parents much, but I talk to them more with it being baseball season. Never talk about my brother with them aside from when he's going to a show or Ohio. My parents didn't mention it, and they saw him last week in New York at his opening there.
Personally, I think his being hit is Karma.

Box of fun
So we got new A/C today, and before they left the guy asked me if I wanted the box for the kids.
I said "no" to the box, K and B were outside with me and they box wanted the box.
It was 88 degrees and they were in a box. Thankfully the yard is shaded by a couple maple trees, but they weren't dressed for such a day.
K wanted his shirt to match his tan shorts, so he wore a polo.
B didn't think any of her shorts fits so she was adamant about wearing pants.
I always wear pants, but I have my reasons that I don't force upon my children.
Regardless, they played with the box and they weren't jerks to each other. No one died or fainted.
B didn't want to come into the house. She was in a phase that she refused going out let alone putting on shorts/pants.
