Life is a bunch of events that are connected by smaller mundane events.
When I had my last job, I was always waiting on people to get back to me. Did I stop everything and wait idly by? No. I had plenty to do. I started everyday with a list of things I wanted to accomplish. Somethings carried over from previous days, so I just put them on the back burner until I could complete them, and move onto my next items. I had daily routines. Sometimes they were fruitful, sometimes they went nowhere. I had long term projects. If I had to wait for a call, I cleaned out my inbox. If I was waiting on an email, I made my calls for the day. If it was too early to call people, I sent out emails. Fridays, I always tackled the things on the burner, and hope to have it resolved by Monday.
My system wasn't perfect, but it kept me busy and productive. It's easy to get intimated by the prospect of starting something big, but if you divide the whole into parts, then slowly but surely things take shape.
I seem to have this problem at home. I tend to like to complete things all at once, but odd ball things get left behind that I find excuses to not complete.
