Regardless of the internet's popularity, I get a lot of mail. Mostly, I get stuff about credit cards. Today an application to join AARP fell out of the stack of flyers that was in the mail. It was a generic application, but it reminded me of last year when I got a temporary membership card in the mail when I turned 33. I'm still wondering how I got on their list.

Friending Grandma
I'm a 33, and I am a married adult with kids of which I'm proud. With that said, I wouldn't friend my Grandma J if she were alive. Definitely would not have friended her when I was in college or younger.
I still cringe when I think of being at Big Boy and hearing her say "masturbation" with regards to her catching an episode of the formerly hip show, Seinfeld.
I loved my grandparents, but they were old school family values Republicans.
I'm so glad social media and cheap cellphone plans didn't exist when I was in college. Life was simpler without 24/7 need to know constant contact.

"hi"
Explain to me why girls at pools say "hi" and giggle.
While we were walking to the concession stand. K wanted to hold my hand. Not normal since he doesn't like me as much as he likes J, but he's 8 so I'll hold his hand if he wants it. I was holding in my other hand B's Disney Princess tube shaped floatation device.
K was oblivious to his surroundings, as normal, but two girls said "hi" to us as though they knew us. I say us, but they were looking up at me. They were slightly taller than Kid Oblivious and too giggly for any sense of normalcy. Not sure how old they were, but I'd peg them for about K's age. The whole passing moment had to have been a thing of mockery of my existence.
Weird.

Playboy is hurting for subscribers if...
Got a postcard from Playboy saying that I could get a "Market Research Test Discount." Due to "an effort to expand the demographic profile of our readers, Playboy is pleased to offer you a special one-year (12 issue) discounted test rate of $12."
I'm 33 and male. Strange to think I'm market research material for a has-been publication that should just go away like 35 mm cameras.
