I've begun a focus on my short comings in fatherhood. Yesterday, I did the dance and picked up cookies for B, while drove K to a comic book store. Today, I refrained from yelling at them, in addition to driving them to school. The latter was a carry over from last week when they were dropped off each day. Their bus stop is covered in snow and the weather has been super cold... too cold to be standing and waiting.
I have been a lazy parent that yells more than he should. It hasn't been working, so I'm going to refrain from it and start with a more direct approach. I will give direction and follow up accordingly, without raising my voice from across a room. I sound silly, but somewhere along the last nine years or so I've lost patience. My oldest may have ADHD if I went to the right doctor, but he's nothing more than I ever was. With that said, I need to treat him like I would treat my younger self: one on one attention without a chance to let the moment pass without completion of objective.
I just had a brain fart coming up with the above thought, but I got the word I wanted. Objection and objective are very different words aren't they?
Anyways, the day was a wash given my being tired and D being into everything too often. Fun age she's in, but her adventures throughout the house are unending. She likes putting things in the toilet of late... I shall say no more on that matter.
I did get some rest this afternoon, but it wasn't great and not soon enough to be productive.
I got a roasted chicken and cinnamon bread from Kroger and baked potatoes as my contribution to dinner. All were satisfied, so I watched Gotham without guilt at 8pm.
Wow, Gotham is off for a number of weeks. So dark it has been with terms of imagery, amazing it shows at the 8pm time slot. Fox only has so much viewing time, and The Following is much darker.
