While we were at the movies, my phone vibrated. At first I thought it was one of my 5 alarms set, but I figured it was a a call since my alarms were turned off due to FALL BREAK.
My dad called. I figured I'd check my voicemail after the movie, but that only proved to be fruitless since his message was "I'll try your other phone."
Ideally, the landline would be the primary number for him to call. And he left a more elaborate message there that he got a new iPod with a video feature and that he had nothing important to say.
I called him back when I was relieving my bowels. He said my mom washed his iPod in the laundry so he got a new one today. It's his third, since his first was stolen from the gym a couple years ago.
Not sure why he feels the need to talk about iPods. I know nothing about them. I think I shelved a few shuffles when I worked at Target, but that was like 9 years ago. I don't listen to music much. I get into moods where I get out my Pixies, 'Stones, or GBV, but I don't need music to get me through my day.
I actually listen to the FM stations at night when I drive home. I need a CD player for my music since I only have one cassette tape, so if all the stations are playing crap, I'm stuck listening to Trompe Le Monde. I love Head On, but the rest isn't the lo-fi I like best about Pixies.
I actually listen to the Demo tape Frank Black Francis released in 2004 a bit of late(like when I was assembling the IKEA EXPEDIT). I think that was the last time I got a "new release" of anything. Can't think of anything I've bought since then either. My brother and father just don't get me, and I'm fine with that. Growing up, I observed that my dad may have cared more about his stereo than he cared about his family.
