Gun Control pt. III

One of my pet peeves is people posting TMI on Facebook, another is posting political propaganda.

A college roommate of mine keeps liking stuff from the gun control lobby. I find myself thinking he's a dummy for forcing his misguided beliefs upon my Facebook time, but then again I don't know how I'm portraying myself when I like stuff. I'm a cynic, so I tend to be humored by irony like my sharing things I come across bashing the anti-social elements of social media. I have one friend that always likes those things that I share.

I am not going to say mean things about people for the sake of being mean. It's just sad that everything about politics is polarizing and that there's so many lobbyist groups that thrive on dividing every single topic into a cause for the "left" or the "right." Logic is thrown out the door and emotions are spun upon selective "facts" that overlook reality more often than not.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: There are already enough guns in circulation to kill everyone, and criminals don't care about following the law, hence they're criminals.

Look at Prohibition. Alcohol was banned, but people still drank. People thought a lot of things would change for the better, but aside from less cirrhosis and public drunkenness, they never materialized.

If every proposed law is studied for realistic effects rather than wishful causality, then I'd be inclined to be less cynical of political propaganda liked on Facebook, but until then, I'm for status quo for the unknown can have consequences that are more unpleasant than current circumstance allows.
