Children's Place, Yankee Candle, Danbarry Dollar Saver

Spending quality time with the family is a good thing to pursue in 2013.

Another New Year's Resolution is to be happier and not let the world get to me by sweating the little things.

We always hit the mall on New Year's Day.
Calendar kiosks sell quality calendars at HALF PRICE.
Yankee Candle sells seasonal candles for HALF PRICE.
Macy's had a HALF PRICE sale as well.

I'm a thrifty person in that I rather go without than spend on something I didn't have before. Being happily married with kids means I have to made compromises. Buying things that make the wife happy at HALF PRICE is a compromise.

Another such compromise is eating out.

Steak'n Shake has happy hour half-price drinks during the week while kids eat free on weekends. We subscribe to the Sunday Paper, so we have ample coupons to use in addition to the those deals. We eat there enough that the waitresses know us and treat us well, but we also take advantage of the gift card deals. Usually you can buy a holiday gift card for $20 and get a $5 coupon towards a meal after the holiday season.

Anyways, we went to see a movie yesterday. Danbarry Dollar Save has a good deal for second run films on Tuesdays, so we saw Wreck-it Ralph. We always get the refillable popcorn and a refillable drink(we bring in colored straws for eat family member), so tickets, popcorn and beverage come to $21 for a family of 4.

J's parents wanted to spend time with K & B so they met us at the theater. Afterward, they suggested that we get lunch together using the Steak'n Shake gift card we had gotten J's G-ma who evidently rejected them as X-mas gifts. It was happy hour and we always have coupons in the Dodge Journey, so I was fine with that suggestion.

A group of 6 cost $24.86, so with the gift card we owed $4.86!
