Doing the opposite is worse than not trying

Not that I would ever suggest that having goals is stupid, but I have found that they don't exactly work for me. Call it Murphy's Law or what you will, I never seem to achieve goals in the manner I plan to achieve them. In fact, it happens too frequently that I have my goal met after I have ceased pursuing the endeavor.
Almost like a cruel joke, I reside myself to my failure and accept my lot in life only to have an event occur that alters everything. I am at the point that I almost find myself laughing at adversity.
This time last year, I was stressed about graduation, but I calmed myself and rode the excitement much like a surfer rides a wave. Everything fell into place, more or less, and the things that were less than great, I chalked up to lessons learned for next year.  We all know that I didn't get a chance to follow up as planned, for as soon as I was getting everything squared and was going to swing my numbers, I ceased having the responsibility.
