The family went for a daycation yesterday. We're affected by the economy enough that it's a recession to us.
Rather than go to Maine for a few days, we went to Point Pleasant, WV, instead.
Yes, we went to the Mothman Museum. We were thinking of going to the place in Maine, but gas is too expensive to go there given price of food and everything else of late.
We spent $50 for gas roundtrip. Trip to Maine would have been closer to $400. When we went to Florida last fall, we spent less than $200 on gas.
A few hundred bucks extra on gas isn't much but it adds up.
Balancing expenses and trying to get the most out of life without going into a debt spiral is what we try to do. I max out my TSP contributions because I can and want to be able to retire.
Being frugal, $275 spent yesterday on souvenirs, gas and food seems just a little bit unreasonable.
Anyways, our day trip cost was a fraction of a trip to Maine.
