Pinky Finger

On the last Tuesday of March, I was pulling a box from a shelf and felt my pinky bend with pain.

The box had a handle like a banker's box which I had placed three of my fingers. The shelf was above my head, and the box probably weighed more than 30lbs.

I didn't feel or hear a pop. It wasn't a sudden jam. It was a heavy bend.

It bruised and swelled. But not enough for me to think it was anything more than sprained.

I filed an incident report, to make sure it was documented. It's still swollen and sore nearly 4 weeks later, so I probably broke it. It will eventually be better, but it is not exactly bad now.

I should have had it checked when I hurt it, but what would have been done? I can assume a splint with light duty or time off.  I'm not a light duty person, and I really don't want to be home again.

I've been using a popsicle stick the last week at work as a splint to help it heal. I've not been too slowed by the finger. It just hurts when it gets struck a certain way.
