wrong century

PC sales have plunged. Netbooks were the rage, but now tablets are the thing. My preferred means of interacting with the world at large is through my PC: HAL Jr. HAL Sr. ran on Windows 98 and had floppy drive and a CD-Rom. I was annoyed when Jr came without a floppy drive, but I transitioned to using a flashdrive. HAL Jr. is old and runs on XP. XP has been hassle-free, as far as I'm concerned, but it will be a no-go soon enough, so I need to take HAL Jr. offline in the near future. Not sure what to do about a replacement. PCs aren't what they used to be. I just want something that can be used for word processing, spreadsheets, and paying bills, but I can't type on a tablet. Well, I suppose that I could get a keyboard for a tablet, but that is rather silly. Probably go with a laptop, but I don't like them.

21st century problems. Technology keeps moving with leaps and bounds, but I'm content with what I used in college, last century. Of course being cheap is a factor, but I really don't feel the need to be into every new gadget, if there's going to be 2.0 version coming out once I get acclimated to the original. I'm officially old.
