Usually September is filled with rain and days in the upper 70s. So far its been DRY and into the 90s.
It's been dry since July, hence my lawn looked dead and I noticed that it was mostly THATCH. Dry weather is nice for de-thatching, but not nice for re-seeding the bald spots that were covered by thatch.
I've a dinky sprinkler that has a dozen settings that all leave something to be desired, but it's kept an area that was seeded watered the last few days enough for sprouts to come up. Other places it looks like I didn't groom the thatch enough. Not sure if the thatch is coming back or not, but I'm not seeding elsewhere until I've hearty growth in the seeded areas. Hopefully I have the yard mostly torn up in time for the inevitable rain we should get between now and November when I can go to town with the seed I have.
