I didn't want to go on vacation. I had been putting off house projects. I don't feel like I ever have time to get things done since I'm always watching kids and too tired when I don't have to watch the kids. Driving out of state wasn't my idea, and I resented going. They were going with or without me, so I sucked it up and went. I don't blame the vacation for the accident, but I wouldn't have had the accident if I were at home working on my deck or bathroom, right?
I work part-time. I don't receive vacation or PTO as part of my job. I obtained 16 hours of PTO from doing Fitbit and fatshaming challenges my employer had put in place to make their insurance cheaper due to ACA.
Working 5 hour days means 16 hours equals 3 days paid off. I haven't taken more than a day off from work in a week since my my daughter was born. In the nearly four years at the carwash, I have called off work twice. Both times were due to weather, carwashes aren't busy during snowstorms. Aside from the week off when my daughter was born, I requested off a day a couple times without switching an off day. Once when my dad was hospitalized and the other when the new guy was hired and I had a wedding to attend.
I work part-time, so it doesn't seem like a real job to most people, I guess. I need to have the money, so I work whenever I can. I don't know why I haven't had a job that makes taking a vacation seem like a no brain option, but this will be the first time I went on vacation and used up all my time off before switching jobs,
Those jobs always paid out PTO upon termination of employment. I had a week of vacay from Target, 2 weeks from the Hospital, and a week from the College. Extra money seemed handy when it came except I was laidoff 2 of those times and unemployment doesn't start until you are off payroll.
