I drive 20 miles each way to work. It takes maybe 25 minutes to get between home and work. The drive home is very boring. See there are very few cars on the road at 2am, and I don't dare to drive above the speed limit.
My phone has an app that keeps me a little interested in the drive, but it's dull between mile 1 and mile 18, since no gas stations can be seen on that stretch.
There are probably a dozen ways to get to home that add a few moments to the drive, so I started exploring the alternate routes last week. I figure it's handy to know ways to avoid backups, anyways, given the number of times I've seen I675 be a parking lot the opposite direction I'm heading.
One thing about night driving is my lack of knowing for certian I'm doing stuff correctly. I swear I missed a turn last week and got on a road at the wrong spot, so I tonight I turned onto the exit sooner and found myself on the wrong road completely. No one was around so I just got the map app up and it told me where I was and guided me to a road I knew, but had no idea was connected to a way to my work. Crazy to think I ended up where I did because I was wanting to get there, but figured it was out of the way to be a practical detour. Driving lost is annoying, but being lost is silly when I should know my way around the area better after a dozen plus years in the same zip code.
Anyways, I pass more gas stations on some of these new routes. GasBuddy is mildly addictive.
