I was dreading today. I've had pain and numbness in my hands since April of last year. Chalked it up to carpal tunnel, seeing that braces helped. My doctor said it was probably carpal tunnel, and that if it got to the point I couldn't tolerate, to get a referral to a specialist. Well, the pain started to radiate from my hands to my forearms in middle of the summer, so I got to my intolerable point.
Had nerve tests today, and my carpal tunnel is mild. I have a pinched nerve in my left funny bone, while the rest of my issues seem to be tendinitis. Really doesn't sound bad, does it? The results will be ready for my hand doctor next week, and I will soon know a course of action. Looking online, surgery seems to be unlikely, so that's a relief. I just don't get why it hurts so bad. I mean, am I weak and have low threshold for pain?
I avoid taking pain relief more than most, and I was thirty when I had my first shot of Novocaine for a cavity filling. All of my molars have fillings, so I've had my fair share of drilling. Ugh, not being able to do everyday things without pain is annoyingly frustrating... this funny bone stuff makes it seem trivial. My left arm and hand bother me less than my dominant right do.
