X-mas '12 Re-hash

Christmas tradition dictates that we stay home, so we stayed home.We always have Christmas Eve at J's parents,' while mine usually come around K's birthday or after Christmas. Under this method, K and B get gifts three different days. They know who the gifts are from when it's not Christmas Day, but evidently Santa gets credit for the Big Day of Presents.

K is nine. It's hard to say what he thinks, but either way he hasn't let on to his sister for B seems very happy with Santa.

It's wonderful to see K and B playing with their new toys, but I wonder if their not having Santa around to thank gives them a sense of entitlement. I don't recall thinking anything of the sort, but I never really got overwhelmed by Christmas.

Sure we'd get up at 5 and have to wait until 6 before we could open presents, but I vividly remember not getting the things I wanted more than the I did get.

K and B don't complain about their gifts, and they were patient about opening them. K stayed in his room until 8 and got his stocking as quietly as he could. He didn't try to wake anyone or sneak downstairs to the tree. B was asleep until 9. She thought it was still night until she looked out a window and said,  "Wake up Daddy, it's not night time anymore!" I told her it was still and she laughed and tried to tickled me out of bed.

We opened presents until break fast was ready, and we stopped to eat. After eating we finished opening presents. A very calm and peaceful ordeal was on display.

I've felt unwell, so I really don't recall much of the day aside from hearing about the pending Blizzard and wandering out to get the Journey and Neon gassed up.

I almost ran over a skateboard coming back with the Neon. I saw a kid trying it out in his driveway only to have it "fly" from under his feet and into the street as I was approaching. It came close to going into a water drain in the curb, but stopped on the curb in front of me. I stopped and waved him to get his board. Someone was behind me and I doubt they would have been looking for a skateboard in the road.

J's parents were over when I was finished with one of the cars, and I was happy that they parked on the curb so that I could get both cars filled. Not sure if the price will jump, but it tends to jump when there's a mere mention of snow.

Of course, I'm anxious about tomorrow. Snow may make things more difficult than they need to be. J works. K has his annual doctor appointment. I am cat sitting this week as J's uncle is out town and asked if I could watch their cat until New Year's Day.

Sure it will be fine. Snow is a natural occurrence that we've not had in a couple winters.
