Democracy's biggest flaw is that it depends on people being educated to understand the issues and positions of the day and being able to see through the BS.
I had Marshall Swain for Philosophy 101, so I have the understanding that knowledge is flawed because people tend not use a reliable process to make decisions.
What qualifications does one need to be a politician? They can say what they think you want to hear and do differently once they are elected to office.
I have little comfort in the words of politicians for they tend to change to their surrounding much like chameleons rather than adhere to being uniform in message with a transparent intent.
I've never heard of an actuary running for office, but I think I'd vote for one if I had the chance.
