I've had a cellphone since March of 2003. My 1st phone plan was $29.99 a month. The plan was for 200 minutes a month with unlimited nights and weekends. The company ceased doing mobile business and later changed it's name to Altafiber.
Crazy to think how things were 20 years ago. No texting. No data. Just a phone that may not have reception.
We used this company for our home phone and internet service for a bundle discount.
We fired them in all three capacities over time. If not for my keeping every email, I'd forget which was first because t0he internet used the phone line.
The internet speed was slow. We didn't need a landline. We wanted smart phones.
Walmart Family Mobile had cheap smart phones and plans in June 2014. We dropped the landline and changed internet plans with that company a month later for $39.99 a month and got a MagicJack
We got Time Warner in 2016 since it was cheaper and faster. They've increased in price so much over time. I think we started at $29.99 for a year then it bumped up to $49.99 then $5 seems to be added each year since they became Spectrum. We now pay $79.99 a month for internet alone!
I've been looking into leaving, but the options aren't great and Spectrum is a known evil.
Walmart Family Mobile decided to fire us as customers. They're switching to Verizon network, thus making our phones null and void whenever the transfer is complete. Paying $114/month for 4 lines was reasonable, but forcing us to buy new phones was enough to make up look into Mint Mobile.
Mint is going to be $80 a month for 4 phones. Price isn't everything, but it's cheap enough to try it out.
