Year in review

It's rather amazing to think about how long the basement took to complete, but Jennifer sprained her ankle the Sunday before Thanksgiving, so it's not been fully utilized.

We used to walk a few laps around the block to stay active during COVID-19 lockdown, and we only ceased walking with her being on crutches.

We were in Canada a couple months ago. Everything seemed expensive in Niagara Falls.  When we got home, the shower drain was slow. had Ecoplumbers come and snake it a month later since the draino stuff didn't seem to faze the hair ball that was causing the slowness.

Our washing machine had a broken lid which was fixed with a geek squad warranty claim. The technician said the loudness of the machine was probably due to a bearing going bad or something that we should get fixed before warranty expired.

Kief had nearly completed his first semester at college. He's been commuting without much trouble, which seems amazing given his lack of previous driving experience. His job a the pool was a couple blocks away, so it wasn't much of a drive. He's taking a full load of classes so we're not forcing him to work since he has funds to pay for the rest of the year.

Betsy completed a season of Marching Band with only having drama of a football denting her sax as being bad. She came a long way. I am not a band person, but I'm proud of her. She takes guitar lessons and still loves her ukulele.

Darcy took up learning to drum. She's actually having fun, so we're probably getting her a electric kit for her birthday that she can have a headset to keep it quiet. She still takes singing lessons. She doesn't have private speech therapy anymore.

Pretty tame year. We're busy most of the time.

I was prepared for an economic meltdown, but aside from food and utilities being higher and my 401(k) being up and down week to week, the doom seems yet to come.

I'm glad we bought our car last year. It's been good to take on trips. The last oil change was a fiasco but a good mechanic stands by his work.

We had 4 flat tires this year. We replaced 2 car batteries.

I'm thinking a new car will be on the horizon in '23 or '24. Maintaining the cars we have won't change the fact one car has over 140K miles on it.

I need better hobbies than monitoring the cash back credit card deals I get and playing Puyopuyo.
