V8

A few years ago, the oil pan threads got stripped on our Sebring. I know who did it, for it was a kid at the place I started to get my oil done once I figured the car was old enough to need a regular set of eyes underneath, rather than the quick in and out Oil Express or my doing in my garage.

I am not a skilled eye when it comes to stuff going bad. I changed oil a few years and came to the conclusion that it was probably cheaper to go to Oil Express with a coupon. When Oil Express started saying that stuff needed looked at by a real garage then I realized that they weren't really doing much beyond what I was doing. So I started spending an extra ten or so bucks an oil change to have ASE Certified mechanics to take a peak under my car in addition to the tire people that would rotate for "free" in hopes of finding other things to suggested fixed.

My mechanic never suggested anything beyond what was needed and always quoted lower than the chain places, so I was drastically disappointed in my drain pan being stripped. They got an extra long plug and said that it should hold, but that I'd be aware of the potential for a $900 repair down the road.

They never fessed to being responsible, but they weren't trying to profit from the unfortunate incident.

The plug final ceased working today when they tried to change the oil. A cheaper solution was found, but the expandable device was out of town. My mechanic lent me his work truck and suggested that if needed to haul something that I'm more tha welcome to do such while I had the loaner.

I took a couple upholstered chairs to Goodwill that didn't fit in our Journey, so I was quite happy with the tank I drove home. I was scared that I'd hit someone the whole time, so I was happy to get my car back, but I killed a item that was on my hubby-Do list, expectantly.

No idea what I will have to pay on the work done since it will be totaled with the work done on the Neon that I dropped off ...
