a raise

I got a raise. Sounds nice, but it's a quarter, so I get an extra $5 a week which is like working an extra 5 minutes a day. So 5 times 52 is $260. Sounds nice as a lump sum, which is what my old job did with "holiday bonuses."

A raise better than no raise, but it's something that is moot when prices of stuff increase... like how gas jumped from $3.399 to $3.599. Poof! a full tank of gas is a couple bucks more. If gas was around $1.50 a gallon like it was ten years ago, then a quarter raise may mean more...
